The EVRC committee met recently to discuss the revised rules from England Athletics (EA) regarding club activities.
Efforts will continue with 2 coaches each Wednesday but the number of participants (per coach) allowed has been increased to 12.
EA have introduced very strict new guidelines for club nights for EVRC to maintain affiliation and insurance, including:
- a mandatory LIRF qualified run leader for each group
- a mandatory risk assessment to be completed prior to each run, for each route / group
- groups of up to 12 runners allowed but must comply with 2 metre social distancing rule
The committee feels these new rules would burden to the current run leaders and with the layout of Evesham it would be impossible to maintain the 2metre gap.
We also need to be mindful of the reputation of the club and want to prevent antagonising the public by seeming to flaunt government guidelines regarding social distancing.
This means that Monday and Thursday night runs will continue to be suspended.
We know many members will be disappointed that normal club night won’t be resuming until further notice but we hope you will support this decision.
So, for now, please continue to run independently in small socially distanced groups, ideally no more than 6. We would also ask you not to wear club vests outside of efforts sessions. You are welcome to use the club’s Facebook page to arrange runs with other members.
If any member is struggling to find a running buddy, please contact the committee and we will try to put you in touch with other members of a similar pace.
The committee would welcome any suggestions about activities you would like to see put on for members as well as feedback regarding the restarting of efforts.
